Modification Monday: Portuguese Purl Linus with Tiny Tassels

Original Patterns: Linus and Tiny Tassels Shawl

Knitter Extraordinaire: Daphne (Ravelry Profile)

Mods: Daphne changed the Linus part of the pattern to use Portuguese style purling, and added the tiny tassels for the edging. Details and more photos can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: Daphne learned a new style of purling in a workshop, and decided that she would give it a lot of practice – so she converted the Linus shawl to use the Portuguese style of purling, and knitted it that way, while also adding the tiny tassel edging from the Tiny Tassels shawl. When you learn a new technique in a workshop, casting on for a project that will help you practice those skills is SUCH a great idea, especially when it results in such a pretty shawl like this!

I bet a lot of us are guilty of learning a new technique at a class or a workshop, and then never practicing it again.. so the next time you are looking to learn a skill, why not plan for a project right afterwards that will really give you a chance to use everything you just learned?
