Original Pattern: Fair Isle Cuffs
Knitter Extraordinaire: Tina (Ravelry ID)
Mods: Took the chart idea from the fair isle mitts and turned it into a fair isle skirt with a drawstring waist. Details can be found on her project page, here.
What Makes This Awesome: Fair isle stripes like these are perfect for stashbusting, and for small amounts, the original pattern is great. but if you have a bit more, why not make a beautiful skirt like this?  It has a great winter feel, and I love the detail of the pom poms on the drawstring waist! I love how Tina styled it, too- not only do shorter skirts like this work wonderfully with opaque leggings, but she matched it up with another hand knit- her beautiful blue cardigan. I  bet the skirt could be double as a squishy, drapey cowl, too!

What a fantastic stashbusting idea! Really impressive. Suddenly new possibilities open up for my bits and pieces in my stash. Thanks for sharing.
I know what you mean, I’ve just started to corral my leftover skeins and balls by weight together, to help make projects like these a little more doable. I still haven’t managed it for all my stash, but it’s on my list!
This is so great. I love a good knitted skirt (I say, as I sit wearing one).
haha, Amazing! Knitted skirt solidarity!! I knit a skirt once years ago, but unfortunately had a mismatched dye lot problem (I was still learning a lot about knitting), so I could never wear it. I keep meaning to make it again, I liked it quite a bit. Man, I wish I had more knitting hours! If only everyone in the world needed to sleep all night except for me….
this is simply toooo cute!!
I agree, and the pom poms just make it that extra cozy!
And what a wonderful job she did. It looks beautiful!
I love that skirt, too! I want to make one for Lila, it seems like such a great idea.
Love this idea for bits and pieces. Brilliant ; )
I agree! I love this idea, and you could make the skirt longer, too. I want to do something like this for Lila, I think she would love it!
