Modification Monday: Tecumseh

Original Pattern: Tecumseh

Knitter Extraordinaire: Stephanie (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Adjusted gauge from DK to Aran weight, Raised the arm split to a more natural height. Details of all her mods can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: This amazing sweater pattern looks so fantastic with Stephanie’s mods! I love that she raised the arm hole split (details of where in the chart she split for the arms is in her project page notes), because it helps keep the boxy shape but balances out with the slimmer arms, which looks so flattering. I also love that she knit it in Aran weight- being able to knit it at a larger gauge, but adjusted for a smaller stitch count to account for the difference, means that it would be a bit quicker to knit, too!  The design looks amazing at the slightly larger gauge, don’t you think?

Not sure I like the shortened arms too much, but the overall sweater is lovely, and indeed, the stitch pattern works on both weights. Above all, the knitter seems quite happy, and that’s the most important thing really.

I love the raised armhole! The swancho shape of the original has always kept me on the fence about this design, but I think the raised armholes makes all the difference for me. Beauty!
