I don’t know about you, but I feel like I know a lot of people that are either giving up drinking alcohol, or taking a break from it, or seeing how it feels to drink less. And yay for people thinking about their health! It has be spending more time looking for fun non-alcoholic drinks that feel like something special for when you gather when friends who aren’t drinking – or if you don’t drink! This non-alcoholic mojito recipe is a good one. Very refreshing!

These lavender sugar scrub cubes are a great treat for your winter skin, if you ask me. My skin has been so dry and flaky lately, and these smell amazing and are easy to make, once you’ve gathered your ingredients. Would be a nice little gift for friends and family, too! Find the how-to here.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend, but also do whatever you can to help contribute positivity and good to the world. I’ve spent the week feeling sad about the war in Ukraine, and the sudden changing of covid protocols here in Ontario that feel about a month too soon. Let’s try to do our best to be generous with our kindness, because no doubt we are all navigating these times differently, and it’s hard to be our best selves all the time. But being kind, that feels a little more achievable.

Another lovely post full of links and info I would not have found on my own. Always a pleasure to explore these.

How does that article on the tech bros not mention Ravelry once? How do you come into the knitting space and not acknowledge that Ravelry exists and has already built a lot of what those guys seem to want to build? I found that baffling!

I don’t think they knew Ravelry existed! Which seems like such a staggering oversight. Or somehow they saw it, and didn’t understand? They also don’t seem to realize that anyone who wants a video tutorial of literally any knitting on the planet can go to youtube, where it already exists.

Thanks for spreading the word about the totally uninformed and ignorant “businessmen” looking to revolutionize knitting. I was stunned when I read about it. There more we know, the less likely we are to unwittingly support their tiny minds. No handknits or anything knit for them!!
So I make veggie nachos. And I make roasted cauliflower. So why didn’t I think to put.them.together?
    Dinner solved.

Great job! The hearts are amazing and gorgeous. The tech guys are what you would expect. And good information is so easy to find. Have they never heard of Stitch and Bitch? Or Craftivism?

Exactly! I can’t imagine how they would manage to create a site that would be valued by knitters/fiber crafters with so little research into the already thriving, flourishing, so-big-even-i-struggle-to-comprehend universe that is the online knitting world.

I had no idea about the knitting.com drama and I do not know where I have been!! I have read a bunch of tweets and a bunch of blog posts and a bunch of Reddit posts. And I have to say this story is WILD. And don’t forget they are also using this “business” to sell exclusive content on their website by subscription (different from the knitting stuff they are also hoping to sell and they hope to be able to sell the knitting business in 3-5 years for more than 6 figures). I have no issues with anyone making money but it’s the underhandedness of this that irks me. It also irks me that they did no research (I mean they had to have done none – because there is so much content out there and it is not hard to find) and are ageist, sexist and racist. It’s just ugly. I could go on for a very long time but I am just appalled at them.

Love the links – especially the nachos and those gorgeous paper bag flowers.

I have to say, I don’t really get the whole controversy over the tech guys. Just for example, if someone opens a coffee roaster without knowing anything about beans, roasting or coffee, despite whatever claims etc. they making in the press, guess what – the business is going to fail.

And if they do succeed, provided they act ethically and fairly, well, let a thousand flowers bloom.

With all the injustice there is in the world right now, I just don’t care about this.

Thank you for all your work on this site – so much I enjoy and learn from.

should have said “…whatever claims, etc., they are making to the press/in interviews, guess what – the business is going to fail…
